powerHouse author Patrick Cariou’s Yes Rasta (2000) explores the rarely-seen Jamaican territory of the Rastafarians; the book highlights Cariou’s unique ability to venture and thrive in areas few dare to step foot. Cariou brought a copyright infringement suit against fellow artist Richard Prince for using these images without taking sufficiently ‘transformative’ measures. A federal judge ruled in favor of Cariou; the New York Observer reports that Cariou and Prince return to court to assess the damages to Cariou. Other publications by Cariou include, Surfers and the newly released Gypsies.
