We are looking for a sharp-eyed, detail oriented, hard-working intern, to assist with editorial tasks across our line of publications, promotional materials, and internal documents and systems.
Candidates must possess strong organization, communication, and computer skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and see projects through to completion. Adobe Creative Suite skills are a plus, but not required.
All intern candidates should be able to work a minimum of 2 full days per week (7 hours per day). This is an unpaid internship. Those eligible to receive school credit are strongly encouraged to apply, though the position is open to anyone.

DESIGN AND MEDIA INTERN
Intern will assist in creating and stylizing online content for powerHouse Books and The powerHouse Arena, and maintaining and expanding powerHouse’s web presence. Duties include designing web banners, styling product shots, assisting in building new web pages, and coding newsletters and e-blasts, among others.
Candidates must possess strong organization, communication, and computer skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and see projects through to completion. Adobe Creative Suite skills are a requirement (specifically, Photoshop and Illustrator—InDesign is preferred).
In addition, candidates should be familiar with beginner/intermediate HTML and CSS, or at least express a firm desire to become familiar with these web languages. Experience with WordPress is preferred.

The powerhouse Arena , a bookstore, art and event space in the Dumbo area of Brooklyn, is looking for an experienced, passionate, self-motivated full-time or part-time (3-4 days) bookseller who has a strong interest in photography, design, and literature. Our 5,000 sf book boutique focuses on photography and illustrated books, and has a curated fiction/non-fiction, and children’s books section.
We are looking for a dedicated, sales-driven individual with a strong work ethic, maybe a bit of style, a welcoming demeanor, and a friendly personality. Experience in event programming, bookstore ordering a plus.

GALLERY & BOOKSTORE INTERN
The Gallery & Bookstore Intern reports to the Gallery Director and is primarily responsible for: preparing & promoting exhibitions and book signing events; bookstore management; gallery and event preparations, as well as assistance in organizing workshop series.
• Assist in preparing and working at in-house and offsite events—including gallery openings, book signings, launch parties, and other special events.
• Maintaining contacts and workshop databases.
• Maintain inventory for office and bookstore.
•Computer skills: Microsoft Office & Excel. Familiarity with Mac required.
•Mission-passionate with an interest in art, photography, and book publishing.
We offer a small stipend for long-term (6 mo+), full-time internships.
