The Brooklyn Paper gets pumped for Grandmother Power

The Brooklyn Paper talks with Grandmother Power: A Global Phenomenon author and photographer Paola Gianturco about her book, which chronicles grandmother-led efforts to make the world a better place for their grandchildren.  Inspired by grandmothers in Africa who are raising grandchildren that have been orphaned by AIDS, Gianturco set out to document grandmothers elsewhere around the world who are working to leave their grandchildren with a better future.

“The common theme is that these are all women who looked at the troubled world around them and said, ‘Not good enough for my grandchildren,” said Gianturco.

Paola Gianturco will present Grandmother Power: A Global Phenomenon on February 4th, 7PM at the powerHouse Arena in DUMBO.  Email RSVP@powerhousearena.com to save your space!
